Czech–Slovak Showcase of Student Research Projects in Mathematics Education 2026

On 12 and 13 June 2026, the annual competitive showcase of research projects by university students from the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the field of mathematics education took place in Bratislava under the auspices of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of Comenius University Bratislava. The event is jointly organised by the Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists and the Union of Slovak Mathematicians and Physicists.

Students from both the Czech Republic and Slovakia presented approximately forty highly inspiring bachelor’s and master’s theses completed within degree programmes in mathematics teaching for lower- and upper-secondary schools, primary school teaching, and pre-primary education.

Among the fifteen bachelor’s theses entered in category K2b, covering mathematics teaching at lower- and upper-secondary level, our department was excellently represented by

Bc. Štěpán Bruk, with his thesis entitled Mathematical Tasks in the Real-World Environment of a University Campus (supervisor: Magdalena Krátká). As part of his thesis, he created three mathematical trails in the MathCityMap application, which can be used by both schools and individual users.

We congratulate him on his successful participation – it is an honour for us! At the same time, we hope that his achievement will inspire other students to follow in his footsteps in the years to come, enabling our alma mater to celebrate further successes in this field.
